May 9th to 15th, 2021
PLEASE NOTE THIS RETREAT WILL BE HELD IN ENGLISH & FRENCH
Every morning and evening, Manon will hold a safe space for yoga asana practices and much more. During weekly classes, time does not allow the teacher and student to deeply study each posture. Thus this is an opportunity to obtain knowledge about the physical practice and take it to another level. You will gain insights to take back home and transform your weekly yoga class into a more personal practice.
ĀYU yoga school practices yoga off the mat and by joining us, you will directly impact the lives of the community living in the beautiful island of Bali. The proceeds of this retreat will finance the plantation of trees as well as education fees for children. Join the movement !
PROGRAM & ACTIVITIES
You will arrive on Sunday, May 9th and you will be welcomed with a nutritious dinner at our center. Depending on the time of arrival of the participants, we may conduct an evening practice.
Monday to Friday, you will attend two classes a day for 5 full days – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You will be free the rest of the day and have plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings, jump in the sea, enjoy massages etc…
Morning classes will consist of 3 hours of practice of traditional Hatha Vinyasa yoga: meditation, pranayama & asana.
Practices will be 3-hour workshops focused on inversions. We spend time discussing inversions, variations and evolutions for certain inversions depending on the day. We will properly prepare the body, understand the precise pre-requesites, strength preparation and skills to master the balance postures. You will work with bands, sticks, blocks and learn a new approach for inversions and handstands based on proper alignment, body consciousness and engagement.
We will explore all headstands and transitions, pincha mayurasana and variations, inverted backbends (forearm and hand scorpios and hollowbacks), all handstand shapes and entries as well as endurance training.
On Saturday 15th, we will have one last morning practice together and enjoy our last nutritious breakfast together.
This intensive is a human experience as well as a physical Yang training, the group will be really small to be able to work on YOUR proper shapes and body functioning and we will share lifelong memories together.
PRE REQUISITE: Being able to hold a handstand against a wall for 30/40 seconds with straight arms, engaged legs and calm breath.
This intensive training is not for complete beginners.
During your free time, you will be able to spend your time in the sea which is literally in front of the yoga shala or in a hammock or take part in different activities in the area of Uluwatu such as surf classes or massages.
This intensive training will be intense with 6 hours of practice each day so we expect you to rest during your free time. You will be welcome to arrive before or leave after the intensive ends to make the most of your trip.
We have partnered with Dreamsea in Bali for this training and the place is located in Uluwatu, in the south peninsula of the island. The location is unbelievable and we invite you to click on the link below for more information on accommodation.
You can reach the location by flying to the only airport in Bali called Denpasar. The airport is located about 30 minutes from Dreamsea and we will be glad to arrange transportation for you.
You can arrive before the retreat starts and/or leave after the retreat is over depending on availability. Please contact us for more information.
THE YOGA SHALA
The morning and afternoon practices will take place in the yoga shala in front of the sea. You will be able to practice watching the waves crashing during the day and sunsents. This is an incredible location and we can’t wait for long savasanas feeling the sea breeze on our skin.
Manon has certified from a 200-hour Hatha & Vinyasa course from Trimurti (Dharamsala, India) and a 300-hour Vinyasa flow course from Sampoorna Yoga (Goa, India). She has been teaching Hatha flow, adjusted Vinyasa and meditation classes for over two years in Paris.
Manon is very passionate about anatomy and spends a lot of time discussing alignment with her students for them to truly benefit from the postures. During her retreats, Manon likes to take the time to break down a few asanas and show her students how to practice them properly. Students always leave her intensives with new knowledge to take back home and apply on and off the mat.
What she enjoys the most while teaching is seeing her students come from very different backgrounds and evolve into stronger and more mindful humans.
What to expect from the class:
Manon’s main style of yoga is a combination from Hatha and Vinyasa – she strongly believe that moving slowly helps the practitioner to bring mindfulness into the practice and contributes to a stronger and healthier body. Moving in control is a very dynamic and strong (Yang) way to practice thus Manon balances the class by incorporating Yin moments. Asanas are held long enough to feel the benefits, whether it is Vira Bhadrasana II (Warrior II) or Balasana (Child’s pose). Her classes are subtle and we assure you that you will leave feeling rejuvenated.
Lately, Manon has trained inversions and especially handstands with gymnastics and calisthenics professionals and has taken her practice to another level learning a lot of new skills. She would like to share them with you during this Inversion Intensive Training in Bali.
